Heretic is a boutique film house, based in Athens, Greece, producing and selling films on a global scale, dedicated to filmmakers who have a natural talent for storytelling, and to film teams that share Heretic’s core principle: in filmmaking, story and audience come first.
Founded by Giorgos Karnavas and Konstantinos Kontovrakis in 2013, Heretic started as a production base and quickly expanded by establishing the first-of-its-kind world sales department for Southeastern Europe.
Their films have been selected for A-list and major film festivals worldwide, winning numerous awards. Their slate includes Ruben Östlund’s TRIANGLE OF SADNESS (Palme d’Or winner 2022), Omar El Zohairy’s FEATHERS (Grand Prix winner, Semaine de la Critique 2021), Marcel Barrena’s MEDITERRANEO (recipient of three Goya awards), PARI (Berlin Panorama 2020), KALA AZAR (KNF award, IFFR 2020), THE HARVESTERS (Un Certain Regard 2018), and SON OF SOFIA (Best International Narrative Feature, Tribeca FF 2017) among others. They have just released INSIDE, their first English-speaking film, starring Willem Dafoe, worldwide.
